Apex Legends Reaches 25 Million Players With 2 Million Concurrent
It’s been confirmed that Apex Legends, the newest battle royale style shooter, has reached 25 million players, according to an announcement posted on EA’s website today.
Apex Legends launched for one week ago, February 6th, after only being revealed as a rumor a few days before. The success of the title after only being available for seven days can be contributed to not only the caliber of the game, but also the viral nature in which it was promoted, the brilliance of recruiting popular Twitch streamers to play their game, and the micro-transaction only (meaning it’s free with paid enhancements) monetization of the game.
In addition Vince Zampella, Vice President of Respawn Entertainment, announced that they would be holding the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge tomorrow and next Tuesday, as well as a Valentine’s Day special offer and reiterated that Season One would kick off and the Battle Pass mechanic would be introduced in March.
