Destiny 2 Is Coming… Have You Considered PC?

There are a few reasons why it may be the better choice.

Destiny was a game that had a very mixed reaction from gamers. Many of us jumped on board early in the life of the game, and truly loved the experience. This excitement wore off for many of us as we felt that we were   constantly asked to spend more money on Destiny, and were ultimately disappointed on the return for our money.

Destiny 2 appears to be trying to solve some of the problems of its predecessor by giving gamers a more holistic game. The Beta opens by choosing one of three familiar classes (Hunter, Titan, and Warlock) and playing through an introductory mission. This mission sets up what has potential to be a very deep story for Destiny 2, something that the first game was lacking. The mission introduces us to a cast of characters who are dramatic, funny, and relatable, as well as a menacing enemy who bears a striking resemblance to Bane from Batman. After playing the introductory mission, Beta players were given the opportunity to play a 3-man strike, casual PvP, or competitive PvP.

Since the first Destiny game was only released on consoles (previous and current generation), many PC gamers missed out on the experience, unless they also owned a console. So, when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 was going to get a PC release, many PC gamers were ecstatic; finally, we’ll get to play this game so many people love the way that we like to play games.

But with the open beta for the PC version of Destiny 2 just wrapping up, we have to ask the question, “Should console gamers switch over to PC for Destiny 2?” We know, it sounds like heresy, but we’d like to give you just a few reasons to consider picking up Destiny 2 on PC.

Blizzard

Though the decision to partner with Blizzard may seem odd, it might actually be a much better situation for gamers. You see, one of the biggest issues with Destiny was the lack of innovation and new content (that is, content that we didn’t have to buy). Like it or not, Blizzard owns several of the most profitable and beloved game franchises of all time. These games have been so successful in part because of their continued commitment to adding new and exciting content to their games. Since Activision and Blizzard are simply different branches of the same company, it makes sense for Blizzard to take a more active role in improving this game and making it successful.

Performance

If you have not yet seen video of Destiny 2 running in 4K at 60 frames per second, stop reading this and find those videos. Even with a machine that doesn’t have the most up-to-date hardware, Destiny 2 looks incredible. It’s absolutely ridiculous how much definition and how many frames per second the folks over at Bungie were able to squeeze into this game. All of the textures are smooth, there are NO frame drops whatsoever, and the colors are simply magical. Being able to control with either a controller or keyboard and mouse allows the player to decide how they want to play.

The Destiny 2 PC Beta has given us the hope that it will not only have the great gameplay from the last game, but also a significant storyline that may have been lacking in the last game. We know that gamers are excited about Destiny 2, and probably don’t want to wait until October 24 to play the game, but it may actually be worth it. If you’re still undecided on Destiny 2, we encourage you to think about picking it up for the PC.
