The last week has been insane for developer dontnod. Since their newest game Vampyr released on June 5, they’ve now announced not one but two new games both coming soon. On stage at the Microsoft Xbox 2018 Briefing at E3, The Awesome Adventures Captain Spirit was given the world premier treatment. Promoted as an original story set in the Life is Strange universe, the game appears to tackle themes like childhood and make believe and how we use it in order to escape from reality and deal with lose.
We see the world through the eyes of Chris, a young boy always picked last in gym class and generally picked on at school. We’ve all flown space ships to unexplored planets, fought monsters and unleashed our super powers because we’ve all been children. These lines appear throughout the course of the trailer and can resonate to us all. At the end of the trailer the man who appears to be Chris’s father tells him “you’re going to change the world.” We can’t wait to see how he does and find out exactly how this connects to the now expanding Life is Strange Universe.
We won’t have to wait long to play The Awesome Adventures Captain Spirit since it launches on June 26, 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and Steam – and the game will be completely free! That’s right, free! Feels like a nice tease setting up a proper Life is Strange reveal at the Square Enix Conference. Check out the trailer here and come back soon and check out the review for The Awesome Adventures Captain Spirit when the game launches.
