Falcon Age – PAX East Preview
Falcon Age is a unique first-person, single player action adventure with one catch… you have a falcon that helps you kill robots.
This is the introduction we were given during our private appointment to see Falcon Age, the upcoming title with optional virtual reality support from Outerloop games.
Falcon Age follows your character attempting to take back their world from the industrialization that has overtaken it. In this title you’ll be able to bond with your bird, watch it grow, and even put a cool little top hat on it while you’re fighting the system that has overtaken your culture.
For starters, your falcon is one of the greatest tools in your arsenal. Sure, you have some melee weapons and need to control a few things on your own. But for the most part, you’ll be sending your feathered companion after enemies and inanimate objects to help you in your quest.
You don’t just want to use the falcon as your tool though. You’ll also be responsible for healing, feeding, upgrading, and outfitting the bird. This brings a sense of bonding to the forefront as you traverse the cruel world with your companion.
Aside from the obvious messaging present in Falcon Age, the fact that it is playable in both VR and non-VR is a pleasant surprise. Our demo was mostly played in a headset, but we had a few minutes to experiment with nothing but a TV monitor and a DualShock 4. The game plays well in both modes and promises to be a treat for anyone who gives it a go.
Falcon Age is coming from Outerloop games on PS4 and PSVR on April 9th.
