Forgotten Anne for Android and iOS – PAX East Preview
When something is forgotten, and then lost, it is whisked away to The Forgotten Lands. Whether it’s a scarf or a sock, or anything in between, it all must go somewhere, for nothing can exist in nothing. This feeling is what is given as an item of clothing is sent away into a world of wonder, all painted in a pallet of sorrow. This world is one that rains often, is dark and depressing, made up of things all matter of forgotten by their owners, and sent to this place of repurposed refuge. All yearning, praying, hoping to one day be remembered.
Forgotten Anne is a beautiful game. Its art direction is incredible, its animations smooth, and its music is incredible. During this demo at PAX East there was a lot to take in, as this touchscreen adventure pushes the boundaries of what can be expected from a mobile port of a game. The voice acted characters sound incredible, as they speak over a beautiful soundtrack that echoes a world of the forgotten with its ironic dulcet tones.
The control scheme is intuitive compared to others in the mobile ports of a game, as its touch commands are quick, smooth, and most importantly, responsive as Anne glides across the screen. The story of this sad cityscape is one of rebellion, as Anne works as an enforcer to the terrorist rebels who threaten to prevent her and her master, Bonku, to their attempt to escape this forgotten world.
A combination of platforming, adventure, and the tale of a young woman finding she is much more than forgotten. Forgotten Anne is available on all major consoles and will be coming to the App Store and Google Play later this year.
