Ion Maiden Gets A Name Change And A Release Date
We first had a glimpse and hands on with Ion Maiden back at PAX 2018. Since then, the game has gone through some changes during its time in early access including a recent name change. Goodbye Ion Maiden and hello Ion Fury.
Built from the ground up using the classic 90’s engine that built games like Duke Nukem 3D, Ion Fury will bring out the best form of nostalgia in anyone that lived for those classic first person shooters. Developed by Voidpoint and being published by industry giant 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment, Ion Fury is sure to deliver an old school experience to a modern audience complete with additions such as widescreen support, auto saves and improved physics.
After being in early access for quite some time and nearly doubling in size since it was first announced at its current price point of $19.99, Ion Fury will be going up to it’s new price point of $24.99 on July 18th where it will stay after the game leaves early access on August 15th for its proper release.
Also, for the collectors out there, Ion Fury will be getting a physical collector’s edition release as well. Complete with a Bowling Bomb-shaped USB Drive loaded with a DRM-Free version of the game and soundtrack, a poster, a keycard based on the ones Shelly finds in-game, a making-of booklet, a Bowling Bomb sticker set, and, of course, Ion Fury, all for $59.99.
If you haven’t checked out Ion Maiden yet make sure to check out the newly rebranded Ion Fury now in early access and be there August 15th for the official release on PC. The Switch, Xbox One and PS4 release dates are still waiting to be announced, but the wait is almost over on PC.
